The day after Thanksgiving has gone from the day to start digging out the Christmas decorations to the day to eat early on Thanksgiving, so you can get a good night’s sleep and get up before the crack of dawn for a Hunger Games/Purge type of shopping adventure. There have been many fights over the years for Tickle Me Elmos, Cabbage Patch Kids

Your hair is done, your outfit is fly, hopefully you have already received your manicure and your pedicure. As you are holding hands and saying prayer or passing the gravy, you do not want people looking at your hands wondering when you are going to get a fill. There should be no chipped nails or paint. I call those kid nails. Kid nails belong on kids.

Many believe that the price tag of the outfit is the main factor in whether the ensemble is suitable (no pun intended). One can be dressed from head to tow in expensive designer labels like Louis Vuitton or Gucci and still look tacky or ill-dressed. The brand is to be an attribute of the wearer, the wearer is not supposed to an advertisement billboard for the brand. The goal is not to overdo it nor is the goal to underdo it. It is all about doing it correctly and to the point that a statement is made.

As society evolves, so does the concept of beauty. Potentially in the future, shifts in beauty standards will start emphasizing inclusivity, sustainability, and the growing emphasis on holistic well-being. This can be far-fetched or a reality.

ReOrr Hair Replacement by bQute is one of the few companies that has contracts with the medical community. For those with alopecia or who are in the middle of receiving chemotherapy or radiation that can cause hair loss, their services may be covered under their medical insurance. It qualifies under durable medical equipment “DME”. This is the same thing that arm slings, wheelchairs, crutches, and neck braces are. Check with your insurance company to see if they cover it but every day more companies have been covering it.

There is no shame in wearing a man weave just like there is no shame in going bald or any of the other choices in between. The main factor should be the man’s comfort level. Whichever style he can afford that is going to make him the most confident should be the preferred style. A man weave can last up to two months if taken care of correctly.

Wigs have made a comeback and are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Covid helped expediate their arrival and even though many companies are now attempting to put the brakes on working for home and logging into Zoom meetings, people are still rocking the wigs. I have been a hairstylist for over two decades and back when I started, they were almost non-existent.

There are people with black skin right now sitting in a call center that has no client/customer face to face interaction forced to wear a shirt with a collar and slacks or Dockers because that is deemed to be appropriate business attire. When they interviewed, they most likely got haircuts or traditional styles and covered all tattoos.

There are some subtle differences that many should be aware of before proceeding with a short haircut. For example, black women, with a short do, a mini relaxer is recommended every other week. A full relaxer should be done approximately every six to eight weeks depending on hair texture.
